Meet the Team

Ron Silvia

Ronald is the President and founder of Chicago Electric Boat Company, Chicago Cycleboats, Downtown Docks and Two Wave Group. He also oversees the building and leasing of the retro boat operation. He has been the driving force behind building each business from idea to proven concept. Silvia’s longtime passion for the marine industry and bringing the joy of boating to everyone possible has been the foundation for the success of Chicago Electric Boat Company.

Additionally, Silvia has been working for Jefferson Beach Yacht Sales since 2008 and is the VP of Sales. Silvia holds a B.S from Bentley University in Waltham, MA and an MBA from Loyola University in Chicago, IL. Silvia also holds a USCG 100 Ton Near Coastal Merchant Marine Officer Certificate.

Caroline Winter

Caroline is the Vice President for Chicago Duffy, LLC and has now been awarded partner. She has been instrumental in the development of the business since its beginnings in 2012. Winter is responsible for accounting, staffing, and marketing. She is also the Chicago Office Manager for Jefferson Beach Yacht Sales and assists Silvia with slip holder relations, transient reservations, and general oversight of the Marina City Location.

Winter was responsible for the design of the Downtown Docks Riverwalk location in 2015 and handled scheduling, customer relations and day-to-day strategy. She has worked closely on the development of the software invested in by the company since 2013 which will carry operations forward in the future and create more efficiencies. Caroline holds a B.A from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. She is also a USCG licensed mariner holding a 100-TON USCG license. She is BASSET and a certified food manager.

Douglas Jachimiec

Doug started with Chicago Duffy, LLC in April 2015. After Jachimiec's arrival to the company, Chicago Electric Boat Company saw tremendous growth over the past years. His distinctive marketing plans and knowledge to give consumers what they really want has proven to pay off. At the age of 24, Jachimiec had fully recharged the company's batteries and paved the road for a long successful career. With a B.S. from DePaul University in Chicago, IL, a USCG 100 Ton Near Coastal Merchant Marine Officer Certificate, and a passion for boating, it is understood why we have Doug captaining our operations.

Carolyn Gardziel

Carolyn Gardziel is an essential member of the team, serving as the HR and Systems Manager. Carolyn joined CEBC as an intern in 2019 while she was pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration at UIC. Her hard work and dedication quickly paid off, and she was promoted to Assistant Manager in 2020 before being promoted to Manager in 2021. Carolyn's role involves leading the HR and Systems departments, but she also helps with many other projects, including hiring, onboarding, training, and acting as the primary point of contact for many of the company's accounts. Carolyn's expertise has been instrumental in the growth and success of the company. Her dedication to improving the company's processes and enhancing the customer experience makes her an integral part of the team.

Janel Ami

Janel is a key component contributing to the brick-by-brick, growth, and success of our company. She joined us in 2017 as a college intern and remained with us upon graduation from Roosevelt University with a degree in Integrated Marketing. Born and raised in the local area, she has always been passionate about Chicago’s unparalleled two waterfronts of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. This lifelong passion and joy drive her creativity in her development and marketing liaison work. Whether it be for traditional marketing channels such as television/ print or for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, online). Her goal is to continue to inspire customers to enhance and enjoy their lives through boat-rental-fun experiences.

Marissa Bosman

Marissa Bosman is a dedicated and experienced member of the Chicago Electric Boat Company team. She joined the company in 2019 as a crew member, and quickly proved herself as a hardworking and reliable employee. After graduating from Roosevelt University in 2021 with a degree in Computer Science, she was promoted to part-time assistant manager. Marissa's talent and commitment did not go unnoticed, and she was offered a full-time position in the summer of 2022. Since then, Marissa has made a significant impact on the company's systems and sites, bringing in her expertise and knowledge to improve and organize our operations. As a passionate boating enthusiast, Marissa holds a 25-ton USCG captain's license.

Ryan Murphy

Ryan Murphy is an integral member of the team, where he serves as the Fleet and Service Manager. His education, passion for philanthropy, and industry knowledge have allowed him to excel in this role. Ryan earned his B.S. in Business Management from Millikin University. He grew up sailing in Chicago and spent college summers working at Burnham Park Yacht Club. Ryan joined the team in 2020 and has blended his management education, and technical skills to manage the company's fleet and develop service departments from the ground up. Ryan has been able to act on his passion for philanthropy by creating charitable opportunities for community-focused organizations in Chicago. He is focused on ensuring the safety and reliability of all the boats in the company's fleet by creating an environment for technicians to carry out important maintenance protocols. Ryan's dedication to his work and passion for philanthropy make him an essential part of the CEBC team.

MEET OUR TEAM

Kelli Kovach

Kelli is an active member of the International Ship Masters Association Chicago Lodge. Before joining the team at Chicago Duffy, LLC she was a full-time captain for Chicago Line Cruises and previously a captain and maintenance member at Wendella Sightseeing. Her commitment to safety is paramount to everything she does. Kelli has been the Operations Manager of Chicago Cycleboats since early 2022. Though she primarily oversees the Cycleboat operation, she also supports the Water Plaza. A large focus moving forward for Ms. Kovach will be assisting in expanding the type of trips offered to customers, including teaming up with other local businesses. She holds a B.A. from Southern Utah University and a USCG 100 Ton Great Lakes Merchant Mariner Credential.
